What is a Campaign?

A campaign is a collection of broadcasts. Think of it like a folder that helps you keep your broadcasts organized.

Grouping your broadcasts by Campaign also lets you view aggregated performance data, so you can understand how the entire campaign is performing at a glance.

Some common use cases for campaigns are:

  • Product Launch Campaigns introducing a new product, service, or feature with a series of emails.
  • Seasonal Promotions or Sales that tie your offer to events or seasons, such as Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals, Holiday gift guides. Back-to-school or summer specials, and so on.
  • Newsletter Campaigns which are ongoing campaigns for newsletters you send at a given cadence.
  • Educational Drip Series delivering value through a series of lessons, like a 5-day email course on a topic your audience cares about.

How to create a Campaign

Go to the Campaigns section of your AmplifyKit account and click on "Create Campaign". You'll see a form to fill with your campaign information.

  • Name: Your campaign name
  • Type: you can choose between:
    • Ongoing Campaigns, which don't have an end date. For instance, a weekly newsletter.
    • Timed Campaigns, which have a start and end date. For instance, a seasonal promotion.
  • Description (optional): short explanation of the Campaign.
  • Conversion Tag (optional): Subscribers with this tag applied will be counted as conversions for this Campaign. Read more about conversions in the metrics section below.

All fields in this form can be modified at any time.

How to add Broadcasts to a Campaign

Once you create a Campaign, you can add Broadcasts to it by clicking "Add Broadcasts".

You'll see a table where you can search and filter your list of broadcasts and select the ones you want to add your campaign.

How to remove a broadcast from a Campaign

To remove Broadcasts from a Campaign, go to the Broadcasts section in the menu.

There, you'll be able to filter Broadcasts by Campaign. Then, select the Broadcasts you want to remove from the campaign using the checkbox on the left hand side and, click on the Bulk Actions menu, and choose "Unset Campaign."

Campaign Metrics

If your campaign contains at least one sent broadcast, you'll be able to see an overview of its performance at the top of the page, and detailed metrics for each individual Broadcast below.

The Overview tab shows you the performance of the broadcasts in your campaign (recipients, open rate and click rate), as well as the average open rate and click rate of all sent broadcasts in the campaign.

On the Stats tab, you'll find aggregated performance data for the entire Campaign.

The Conversion tab gives you a conversion funnel of your aggregated Campaign information. This includes:

  • The average number of recipients on your sent broadcasts.
  • The average number of subscribers who opened your broadcasts.
  • The average number of subscribers who clicked your broadcasts, and
  • If you've chosen a Conversion Tag, you'll see the number of subscribers who have that tag. You can also click the View Subscribers button to see who those subscribers are.

On the Clicks tab, you’ll see a list of all links across all of your Campaign’s Broadcasts, sorted by the number of total clicks.

This helps you quickly identify your most popular links across all broadcasts in your campaign.

You can use the search bar to find a specific link in the list, and click the "Show all clicks" button to display the full list of links.

Repeating a Campaign

AmplifyKit gives you the ability to repeat a campaign you've sent in the past with just a few clicks. This can be useful for seasonal promotions that you run every year, for example.

To repeat a campaign, start by clicking the Repeat Campaign button in the top-right corner of the screen.

Then, choose a starting date for your campaign and click Next. The starting date can be an estimated date. You can change this later, and the broadcasts for your new campaign will not be sent automatically to your subscribers until you schedule them.

Then, you can optionally change the subject lines of the broadcasts in your new campaign, and choose different planned dates for each one. Again, you can change these later.

Finally, choose a name and description for your new campaign, and click the Create New Campaign button. After a few seconds, this will create a brand new campaign with all new draft broadcasts that you can edit in Kit later.

If you want to edit the contents of your newly created broadcast in Kit, make sure you follow these steps so you can use the blocks editor.

The draft broadcasts for your new campaign will also show up in the Calendar on your planned dates. These will not be sent automatically to your subscribers as long as they stay as drafts. Check out the Calendar documentation for information on how to schedule them.

Broadcast Details

In the lower section of your Campaign page, you'll be able to see your list of broadcasts. Clicking on a broadcast name will open the broadcast details view where you can see detailed stats and reports for your campaign, including a performance funnel and a click heatmap.
